I listen to a lot of "female-fronted" metal, but there aren't many ALL female metal bands. When I realized that, I was launched into a fantasy-football-esque dream of who would make up my ideal women metal band. Behold.
Vocals: Floor Jansen. She can do raspy rock vocals and soaring operatics in turn, so basically whatever you need, she's got it covered.
Vocals: Alissa White-Gluz. You have to have a screamer/growler. Also, metal (and the world at large) needs more straightedge people and acceptable female role models.
Drums: Lux Drummerette. It's hard to find drummers who can do double-bass, especially females. She nails it.
Violin: Lindsey Stirling. I know she's more electric-pop-dance music, but let me have this.
Bass: Alla Fedynitch. Formerly of Leaves' Eyes, so that's good enough for me.
Keyboard: Meiju Enho. She dresses like she's going into battle and has a pretty singing voice. Again, works for me.
Guitarist: ???? This is the most important part, and I can't settle on one! I want to think there's some unknown genius in Sweden or Finland who'd be perfect.
BONUS: the Fairy Godmothers
These are the ladies who could offer their vocals and songwriting expertise: Sharon den Adel, Liv Kristine, Charlotte Wessells, and Elina Siirala (fun fact: she's the cousin of Tuomas Holopainen, so maybe some of that composer genius rubbed off on her).
What do you think? Did I miss anyone?
